Job Description: As a Youth Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in the lives of young people by providing guidance, encouragement, and support on their journey to becoming independent and confident individuals. Your responsibilities will include:
Building positive and trusting relationships with young people, creating a safe and non-judgmental environment for them to express themselves.
Offering emotional support and counseling to help young people navigate challenges and overcome personal obstacles.
Assisting in the development and implementation of individual care plans, tailored to meet each young person's unique needs and goals.
Encouraging educational attainment and providing educational support where necessary.
Facilitating workshops, group activities, and life skills sessions to promote personal development, social skills, and decision-making abilities.
Collaborating with other team members and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to the young person's care.
Monitoring and evaluating progress, maintaining accurate records, and reporting on the young person's development.
Requirements:
Previous experience working with young people in a support, mentoring, or counseling capacity.
Knowledge of the challenges faced by vulnerable young people and an understanding of trauma-informed care.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly.
Flexibility, empathy, and patience in dealing with complex situations and emotional issues.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
Relevant qualifications in youth work, social work, counselling, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
