We are looking for a primary school teacher with SEMH experience readily available to extend support to young pupils. You will be supporting a varied group of children aged between KS2 & KS3. The school is located in the Huddersfield, HD8 area. You will be supporting a class of 6 children into a full time role from Monday through Friday (8:30AM - 3:30PM).
This school is the only special school catering for pupils in Key Stages 2-4 with severe and complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH). The school is different to other schools in which they organise their pupils into nurture groups; structure our day and our curriculum to support pupils with SEMH difficulties; and employ specialist staff to support the special educational needs of our pupils. The school's aim is for all children to be happy and successful.
Roles & responsibilities:
... - To plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons
- To assist children in class to make sure they are on track
- To liaise with support staff to ensure smooth running of class
- To support the general well being of the children
- To monitor and evaluate learners learning
- To enable learners to access the curriculum through a variety of techniques
- To fully utilise Teaching Assistant with the classroom to support aspects of teaching and behaviour management
Requirements:
- Qualified teacher status or equivalent is essential
- Experience with EYFS curriculum is desired but not essential
- Experience teaching learners with various learning difficulties is essential
- A resilient and empathetic approach to working
- Have an understanding of children with special needs
- Be flexible in approach to education
- Experience teaching in an SEN setting is ideal but not essential
- Must hold a PGCE/QTS qualification
- Hold an Enhanced DBS or be willing to obtain one through randstad
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
