Launch Logistics Co-Ordinator
Location: Lode Ln, Solihull B92 8NW
Main Purpose of the Job: Responsible for the material supply chain element of new product introduction. Supporting the engineering function with the planning and execution of new product development and launch. Ensuring planning and supply chain alignment with the latest engineering configurations for production and customer material requirements. Minimising inventory working capital impact through effective material phasing and burn-off, in line with corporate objectives for cost and delivery performance.
Main Missions and Results:
- Plan, organise, and conduct activities within the area effectively to achieve common objectives of the production plant.
- Report deviations from standards and take corrective actions.
- Take action to achieve KPIs.
- Work closely with procurement and scheduling team members to ensure material sourcing aligns with procurement strategy and scheduled deliveries meet program or product launch milestones.
- Liaise with the engineering team to identify product change or NPI program planning deliverable and schedule material demand and production plans accordingly.
- Ensure agreed points of embodiment for material or product revisions and work with stakeholders to assess inventory impact, burn-off, or excess and obsolescence mitigation plans.
- Maintain planning parameters, BoMs, and part master data to the correct revision or configuration. Create and maintain Plan for Every Part (PFEP) to ensure accurate assessment of storage needs and packaging provision in pre-production and steady state planning.
- Facilitate Value Stream Mapping with key stakeholders to ensure effective material flow and alignment to system transactions.
- Generate and issue schedules for pre-production and prototype builds.
- Liaise with procurement to ensure material samples and tooling are sourced in line with pre-production requirements.
- Work closely with material and production planners to ensure a smooth handover and transition from project launch to steady state.
- Conduct material availability checks and report delays or risks, implementing necessary mitigation plans.
- Monitor both supplier and internal part's shipments and material control.
- Manage and report stock levels.
- Provide support to the Logistics Manager, Program, and Engineering teams.
- Organise shipments in accordance with parts release schedules, document and project alterations, and ensure drop-dead dates are met.
- Complete shipment monitoring reports and update relevant parties.
- Monitor report status and escalate when necessary.
- Work with production and supply chain teams to align necessary production capacity with program launch and ramp-up, creating rough-cut capacity plans and notifying stakeholders of potential bottlenecks.
- Understand relevant clauses within IATF 16949.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- 3-5 year's experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Robust working knowledge of MRP-based systems.
- Logistics or supply chain technical qualification (APICs, IoSCM, MCIPS, BSc, etc.).
- Highly numeric, analytical, and with sound attention to detail.
- Understands BoMs, Routings, and Item Master setup in an ERP system.
- Solid organisational, time, and project management skills.
- Takes initiative, manages complexity, and is decisive.
- Effective communicator who facilitates bottom-up and top-down communication channels.
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a changing environment.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Fluent in English.
