In a year full of challenges, I’m pleased that Randstad in 2020 turned in a solid and competitive performance. With millions having lost their jobs last year, our sector was severely impacted early on in the pandemic. Through key initiatives and the earnest work of our employees, however, we helped people get back to work safely while positioning our business to be more agile, digital, diversified and globally empowered.

Market conditions were exceptionally challenging when lockdowns went into effect around the world. Since then, we have gradually come back. In fact, Q4 marked our strongest period of recovery, and we made important market share gains in France and the U.S. in particular. For the year, we helped more than 1.8 million people find jobs, some of whom were essential healthcare workers needed in the battle against COVID-19.

I can only credit our exceptional response to the hard-working women and men at Randstad. They were the reason for our resilience in 2020 and will also be the key to our success in the years ahead.

We have learned much during the past year, and one lesson is clear: we are stronger today than ever and better prepared for a truly dynamic world of work. You can read more about the exceptional year that was 2020 in our annual report.
