CAD Engineer / Mechanical Designer
...
At Randstad, we are excited to be partnered with a highly agile, world-leading technology development company based in Adelaide. They design and manufacture innovative, high-end specialized equipment for a rapidly growing global infrastructure sector.
Their proprietary technology is entirely designed, owned, and developed in-house, earning them a stellar reputation on the international stage. As they experience significant growth, they are expanding their operations and transitioning from outsourced design services to building a powerhouse, in-house engineering team. We are now seeking a senior professional to spearhead this crucial transition.
This isn’t a standard drafting or documentation role, we are looking for an absolute 3D CAD expert. Our client needs a highly advanced modeller who can take total ownership of their design environment. You won't just sit behind a screen all day, you will play a vital role in conceptual design work, step onto the workshop floor for machine assembly, and get your hands dirty with real-world testing and troubleshooting.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Driving 3D Design: Executing highly advanced 3D CAD modelling and conceptual design for complex industrial machinery and systems.
Database Ownership: Maintaining, structuring, and optimizing the CAD drawing database (managing revisions, updates, and corrections).
Manufacturing Prep: Preparing flawless, fabrication-ready drawing packs to ensure seamless production.
Procurement Support: Assisting with part procurement and working closely with key suppliers.
This role is specifically tailored for a veteran who bridges the gap between pure engineering design and practical, hands-on reality. You are likely either a Mechanical Engineer with extensive workshop capability, or an experienced Mechanical Tradesperson with advanced design and modelling knowledge.
What you need to bring:
A Mechanical Engineering qualification OR a Mechanical Trade background.
A minimum of 5 years of experience delivering high-end mechanical/machinery design.
Your DNA:
Dedicated & Reliable: You take immense pride in your engineering output and final machinery performance.
Obsessive Attention to Detail: You catch the tiny tolerances and design errors others completely miss.
Agile & Responsive: You thrive in an R&D environment and handle rapid changes with ease.
Culture Champion: You are personable, collaborative, and ready to fit right into a tight-knit, collaborative team.
If you have the 5+ years of battle-tested CAD expertise we need, and you're ready to step into a pivotal in-house role where your work directly impacts global infrastructure, we want to hear from you.
At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.
