Responsibilities
Jacketed Piping Fabrication & Installation
Carry out accurate fabrication and on-site installation of jacketed piping systems. Read and interpret P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and routing instructions to ensure all joints, alignment points, and configurations comply with engineering specifications and project standards.
Pressure Testing & System Verification
Apply bolt-up knowledge and hydrostatic testing techniques to confirm system integrity. Ensure all high-pressure components adhere to strict safety standards, operational requirements, and leak-prevention guidelines.
Precision Fabrication & Component Alignment
Perform detailed tasks including threading, controlled torque application, precise alignment, and minor fit-up adjustments. Build jacketed spools with a focus on accuracy, uniformity, and overall craftsmanship quality.
Module Assembly & Mechanical Integration
Support the assembly of modular skids and units by installing piping supports, valves, fittings, and instrumentation into complex multi-part systems, ensuring proper mechanical function across each module.
Quality, Safety & Workmanship Standards
Uphold high standards of precision and dependability while following all safety protocols. Promote a safe, efficient work environment and ensure quality is maintained at every stage of fabrication.
Qualifications
Required Certification
Applicants must be officially registered as a 3rd-Year Apprentice Pipefitter to qualify for this role.
Core Technical Skills
This position requires hands-on mechanical assembly experience and strong precision-fabrication abilities. Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in the following areas:
Flange Alignment & Bolt-Up
Ability to perform accurate flange fit-up and bolt-up on high-pressure systems while maintaining strict tolerances and creating secure, durable connections.
Pressure Testing Skills
Experience preparing, conducting, and evaluating hydrostatic or pneumatic pressure tests, including proper documentation and verification of results.
Victaulic System Familiarity
Knowledge of Victaulic-style piping, including selecting and installing appropriate gaskets and components to ensure reliable, leak-free joints.
Component Selection & Sizing
Proficient in choosing studs, bolts, and gaskets according to pressure ratings, flange classes, and engineering specifications.
Torque Accuracy
Demonstrated ability to apply torque to precise specifications for consistent, tight, and leak-resistant assemblies.
Industrial Fabrication Experience
Background with complex piping or mechanical assemblies in shop, field, or industrial construction settings.
Blueprint & Drawing Interpretation
Strong skills in reading and applying P&IDs, technical drawings, and blueprints to support accurate fabrication and installation.
