About the Role We are seeking a proactive and versatile Student Communications and Events Officer (ASO5 equivalent) to join a dynamic Student Experience team. In this collaborative, hands-on role, you will lead the development and dissemination of diverse communications, digital content, and engagement activities designed to enrich the student journey.
This position bridges the gap between creative content production and event execution, making it ideal for an all-rounder who enjoys campus activation, digital storytelling, and managing multi-channel communication strategies under limited direction.
Key Responsibilities
Campaign & Event Coordination: Plan, implement, and report on student engagement initiatives and campus activation events throughout the academic calendar.
Content Creation: Research and draft accessible, plain-English copy for multiple platforms, and facilitate the production of high-quality visual, print, and video products.
Newsletter & Forum Management: Coordinate internal and external communication products, including the delivery of the Student Newsletter, Student Voice Forums, and staff presentations.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal business units, student advisory groups, external partners, and suppliers.
Performance Tracking: Monitor, analyse, and evaluate communication performance data to recommend future campaign improvements.
What You'll Need to Succeed To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate:
Educational Context: Proven experience planning and delivering communications, engagement campaigns, and event management within an educational or training environment.
Digital & Creative Toolkits: Strong knowledge of graphic design principles for both digital and print media, with proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud.
Communication Excellence: High-level interpersonal and written skills, with a proven ability to translate complex concepts into clear, engaging content for diverse student cohorts.
Cultural Awareness: A strong knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal Culture and Community.
Autonomy: The ability to work independently under limited direction, manage competing priorities, and apply sound judgement in a busy environment.
Qualifications: A relevant tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, or public relations is highly desirable.
Special Conditions & Compliance
Must have full, unrestricted Australian working rights.
Willingness to undergo required pre-employment screening assessments, including a Working with Children Check (WWCC) and a General Employment Probity Check.
Flexibility to undertake occasional out-of-hours work, intra/interstate travel, and overnight absences if required.
