We are representing a premier, award-winning property group and its specialised in-house construction arm. Renowned for shifting the paradigm of luxury residential living, this developer-builder powerhouse combines visionary urban design with master-class construction execution.
Unlike traditional companies where development and building are separated, this team operates as a seamless, hand-in-glove collective. To help drive this synergy, they are seeking an Assistant Design Manager to bridge the gap between iconic architectural concepts and final, immaculate construction handover. This is a rare opportunity for elite talent to coordinate legacy-grade projects, backed by the stability of an institutional-strength pipeline and a culture deeply invested in your long-term leadership growth.
Position Overview:
As an Assistant Design Manager, you will play a crucial role in the construction process, supporting the leadership of the design journey and managing multidisciplinary teams for this flagship $250m+ luxury apartment development. You will ensure that project designs are buildable, compliant, and closely aligned with both technical and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating the design process from initial concept and feasibility studies through to detailed design and construction documentation.
- Help assemble, guide, and coordinate a diverse team of external consultants, including architects, structural engineers, and MEP specialists.
- Act as a key point of contact between the client, the internal design/development team, and the construction team to ensure clear, consistent, and streamlined communication.
- Monitor and maintain the design program, ensuring that all design deliverables are tracked, produced on time, and aligned with project budgets.
- Review and vet design packages for buildability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with all relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Proactively identify potential design conflicts, technical issues, or coordination risks that could impact timelines, and collaborate on strategic solutions.
- Review design information to ensure it is accurate, highly coordinated, and of a premium standard to mitigate errors and prevent rework during the construction phase.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 3+ year's experience within a Tier 1/2 contractor, high-end developer-builder, or leading architectural practice, with exposure to large-scale residential or premium mixed-use projects.
- Currently working as a strong Design Coordinator, Senior Designer, or Assistant Design Manager ready to take ownership of a landmark $250m+ luxury development.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, structure/services integration, building regulations, and safety standards.
- A sharp eye for detail with a strong commitment to premium quality control, buildability, and flawless project delivery.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to coordinate multiple tasks, track design deliverables, and manage priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline (highly regarded).
- Proficiency in design collaboration platforms, project management software, and modern construction documentation workflows.
What We Offer:
- A competitive package ranging between $160k - $180k + Superannuation, commensurate with your experience.
- The rare opportunity to work on one of the most prestigious, high-value luxury projects currently in the Australian market.
- Clear career development and progression paths
- A highly supportive, dynamic, and collaborative team culture that thrives on excellence.
- The chance to make a lasting, tangible impact on a landmark project that will define the skyline and reshape luxury residential living.
