Position Summary
Are you a detail-oriented professional with strong administrative capabilities and a background in local government compliance? We are seeking a Community Safety Officer to manage regulatory requests, undertake thorough investigations, and maintain accurate records while delivering clear, professional advice to our community.
While this role involves occasional community interaction, the primary focus for this appointment is on strong legislative interpretation, administrative execution, case documentation, and customer service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Case Management & Record Keeping: Accurately process customer requests, log incident details, update internal electronic document systems, and maintain precise case records.
- Legislative Compliance: Interpret and apply relevant Acts, Council By-Laws, standard operating procedures, and codes of practice.
- Investigations & Briefs: Conduct written investigations, take detailed statements, collect evidence, and draft recommendations or prosecution briefs for leadership review.
- Order & Notice Administration: Prepare, issue, and track compliance for Dog Control Orders, Abatement Notices, and statutory documentation.
- Customer Advisory: Provide high-level advice to internal teams and the public on regulatory standards, policies, and community safety guidelines.
- Process Improvement: Initiate reviews of standard operating procedures and contribute administrative support to strategic plans (e.g., Strategic Animal Management Plan).
What We Are Looking For
- Technical Skills: Intermediate computing skills with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, electronic document management systems, customer request databases, and land management systems.
- Administrative & Communication Strengths: Excellent written communication skills for record-keeping and report writing, paired with clear verbal skills for customer mediation.
- Legislative Knowledge: Sound understanding of local government legislation, statutory processes, and court procedures.
- Qualifications: Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services) or equivalent industry experience.
- Requirements: Current Driver's Licence, Employment Screening Check / Police Clearance, and Child Safe Environment (Mandated Notification) certification (or willingness to obtain).
