Want a 3-day weekend every week, or an extra $800+ in your pocket every Friday?
Tired of the "multiple boss" headache and seeking a single point of contact who has your back?
Looking for a "forever home" where the average team member has been on the floor for 12 years?
Are you a Trade Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic who is a specialist in trailers and systems?
If you’re thinking ‘YES!’ to any of these questions, keep reading. Our Client is a premier manufacturer of high-end tankers and trailers based in Melbourne’s Western Suburbs. They don’t just build equipment; they build long-term careers.
The Role: The Trailer Specialist
This is a role for the "Systems Specialists." If you love the complexity of air systems, the precision of hydraulics, and the satisfaction of a perfect suspension rebuild, this is your playground.
Full Transparency: This role is 100% Trailers. No engines. No transmissions. No grease-covered truck blocks. You’ll be working on everything from fuel & gas tankers to specialized airport refuelling units. If you are passionate about trucks and engines, this isn’t the job for you—but if you want to become a master of trailer technology, we want to talk.
The "Choose Your Lifestyle" Roster:
Our Client offers a level of flexibility that is almost unheard of in the trade:
- The 4-Day Week: Work 4 days (9.5 hours per day) and enjoy a 3-day weekend, every single weekend.
OR
- The "Money Maker" 5-Day Week: Want to boost the bank account? Work your rostered RDO (either Monday or Friday) at full OT penalty rates. You can effectively earn $800+ for that single day’s work.
- The Potential: At the bottom end base rate of $47/hr, if you work just 70% of your RDOs, you are looking at $130k + Super—without touching a Saturday or Sunday.
- On-Call Bonus: One week a month on-call can see you earning 3.5x your weekly salary when the work is there.
What you will be doing:
You’ll be bringing complex trailers back to life in a modern, well-equipped workshop:
- Systems Expert: Diagnose and repair braking, suspension, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Inspections: Conduct preventative maintenance and roadworthiness checks to the highest standard.
- Fabrication: Utilize your mechanical aptitude for component fitting and basic welding/fabrication.
- Quality Focus: We don't care if you make a mistake—everyone does—as long as you have the integrity to fix it before it hits the road.
What you will get in return:
- Competitive Pay: Base rate of $47–$52 per hour (dependent on experience) + Super + massive OT potential.
- Unbeatable Stability: Average tenure is 12 years on the floor. People don't leave here because they are treated with respect.
- Great Management: You report to one person. No conflicting directions, no "too many cooks," just clear leadership.
- Supportive Vibe: A team-focused environment where people actually help each other out.
- Stability: This company has been going for over 70 years and has an excellent reputation in the market.
What we need from you:
- The Qualification: You must be a Trade Qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic (Cert III).
- The Experience: Ideally, you’ve worked on trailers, tankers, or heavy earthmoving gear.
- The Mindset: You are happy to step away from engines and focus on being a Trailer/Systems expert.
- The Basics: A valid manual driver’s licence (HR/HC is a huge plus).
- Longevity: We are looking for someone who wants to be here for the next 10 years, not the next 10 months.
