Do you enjoy swimming and working with children? The Gawler Aquatic Centre is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Learn to Swim Instructors to join our vibrant team. Dive into a rewarding role where you can make a splash in the community and enjoy the summer sun!
The Role
As a Learn to Swim Instructor, you will provide engaging and professional swim instruction to students of all ages, ensuring a safe and fun learning environment. You'll play a crucial role in helping participants develop their swimming skills, ensuring their safety, and fostering a love for swimming. Your communication skills will help create positive experiences for both students and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide engaging and knowledgeable instruction to Learn to Swim participants.
- Ensure the safety of all participants and respond to emergencies according to procedures.
- Assess participant swimming abilities and recommend progression through Learn to Swim levels
- Assist with setting up and packing up equipment for swim classes.
- Participate in the running and catering of birthday parties.
- Promote the Aquatic & Recreation Services and its programs positively.
- Maintain compliance with safe work practices and WHS policies.
- Attend team meetings and training sessions.
- Offer excellent customer service to all patrons.
Certifications you will need
- AUSTSWIM or equivalent Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety
- Child Safe Environments/Mandated Notification
- CPR
- Provide First Aid
- Working With Children Check
Desirable Qualifications
- AUSTSWIM certificates in Infants and Preschoolers, Adults, People with Disabilities, Competitive Strokes, Swim Coaching
- Lifeguard certification
- Experience in swimming instruction in a paid or volunteer capacity.
