Our Victorian University client is seeking a Technical Officer to support teaching and research within the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences. Reporting to the Technical Coordinator, you will manage the day-to-day operations of PC1 and PC2 laboratories, ensuring safe, compliant, and effective laboratory environments.
Key Responsibilities
Manage operations of PC1/PC2 laboratories and OGTR-certified facilities
Provide expert advice on hazardous chemical management and biosafety
Ensure compliance with WHS, OGTR, dangerous goods, and organisational policies
Develop and maintain SOPs, risk assessments, and emergency procedures
Deliver laboratory inductions and safety training
Maintain laboratory equipment, infrastructure, and consumables
About You
Degree (or higher) in Biological Sciences or a related discipline
Experience in biomedical, bioscience, or biotechnology laboratories
Strong knowledge of hazardous chemical management and PC laboratory compliance
Sound understanding of WHS and OGTR regulatory requirements
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, proactive approach
This role is available due to staff leave and offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic STEM teaching and research environment.
