Reporting to the Product Development & Programme Manager, you will be the primary support for our chemists, ensuring that the transition from a formulation on paper to a physical product sample is executed with absolute precision.
Hours:Full-time, Monday – Friday
Shift:6:30am–3:00pm (Beat the Auckland traffic!)
Location:Mt Wellington, Auckland
Skills & Experience
This role is ideal for a hands-on technician who finds genuine satisfaction in technical precision and operational order. While scientific knowledge is important, we value the art of the technician, someone who enjoys mastering complex protocols and takes pride in being a subject matter expert at the bench. Your day-to-day responsibilities will focus on three key areas:
- Approximately 70% of your time will be spent accurately following formulations to prepare customer samples for new products in development. You will be a vital link in the development chain, noting any unexpected observations during the preparation process and communicating these back to the formulation chemists for refinement.
- You will dedicate roughly 20% of your time to conducting accelerated stability trials and recording results meticulously to ensure every product meets our strict quality standards.
- The remaining 10% of your role involves keeping the lab running smoothly by maintaining a clean and organised workspace, managing raw material samples, and ensuring all lab equipment is in top working order.
About You
We are looking for a professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced lab environment and enjoys a role where attention to detail is paramount. To be successful, you will ideally have:
- A degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biomedical Science or a related discipline
- Experience working in a commercial laboratory environment
- Exposure to formulation or product development within the cosmetic, personal care, or food industries
- Strong written documentation skills with the ability to record deviations under strict cGMP standards
- A proactive, sleeves-up approach to lab work and the ability to follow detailed instructions with high accuracy
