Mobile Climate Control is now seeking a Lab Technician for their European Engineering Office and Test Facility located in Norrtälje. Working as a Lab Technician offers an exciting and dynamic environment where you are at the forefront of innovation in climate control systems for vehicles. This role is highly developmental, as it combines hands-on technical work with opportunities to collaborate with experienced engineers and international teams. You will be involved in the entire testing process—from installation and data acquisition to troubleshooting and process improvement—which ensures continuous learning and skill development. Key Responsibilities
... - Installation & Setup: Install test units, systems, and components, and connect instrumentation as required, ensuring compliance with standards and test plans.
- Data Acquisition: Operate Data Acquisition Systems (DAQ) to collect and monitortest results.
- Reporting: Prepare preliminary and final test reports.
- Testing: Execute basic and standardized tests under the supervision of a Test Engineerand/or Design Engineer.
- Logistics: Select, source, and collect test objects, parts, components, and supplies for the test facility.
- Maintenance & Repair: Repair or rework test objects (including HVAC system components). Operate and maintain test equipment, and support the troubleshooting of refrigerant, electrical, and control systems.
- Facility Management: Maintain and supervise equipment in the testing facility, including updating related logs.
- Calibration: Calibrate equipment/sensors and coordinate with external calibration laboratories.
- Safety & Compliance: Practice and train others in safe work practices. Adhere to Code of Conduct, corporate policies (e.g. Keystones, Sustainability policy) and key focus areas (GHG, Safety).
- Process Improvement: Participate in the continuous improvement of processes and internal standards.
- 5S Methodology: Set and/or follow 5S rules in the laboratory, workshop, and office.
- Collaboration: Work with international team (Canada, China, Germany, Poland, Sweden, USA) of colleagues of various experiences and responsibilities and cultural backgrounds.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of work experience as an HVAC/Refrigeration Technician.
- Certified to handle refrigerant gases (R134a, R1234yf).
- Knowledge of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning) in both theory and practice.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Fluent in English (written & spoken).
- Proficiency with tools and equipment, including power tools.
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.
- Medium proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to commute to Norrtälje and work daily in the lab/workshop environment (with possible exceptions).
Desirable Qualifications (Meritorious)
- 1–2 years of work experience as a Laboratory Technician.
- Experience with Data Acquisition (DAQ) systems (e.g., LabView).
- Experience with test object instrumentation (installation of sensors).
- Technical High School degree related to HVAC/refrigeration.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- High Voltage handling certificate.
- Forklift license.
- Experience in the industry (automotive, manufacturing, product development).
- Experience working in a global company/international team.
- Proficiency in Swedish, German, or Polish.
