The Mines Surveyor is responsible for providing accurate spatial data and survey information to support mine planning, drilling, blasting, excavation, and safety operations. The role ensures compliance with mining regulations and contributes to efficient production by maintaining precise mine maps, plans, and volumetric data.
Key ResponsibilitiesSurveying & Data Collection
Conduct underground and surface mine surveys using total stations, GPS, laser scanners, and other survey instruments.
Capture spatial data for mine development, ore boundaries, excavation progress, and infrastructure layouts.
Perform stope pickups, face mapping, and mark-ups for drilling and blasting operations.
Data Processing & Mapping
Process survey data using CAD and mine-planning software (AutoCAD, Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine, etc.).
Produce accurate mine plans, layouts, and maps for operations and planning teams.
Maintain digital and hard-copy survey records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Volume & Compliance Reporting
Calculate volumes for stockpiles, waste dumps, excavations, and backfilling operations.
Prepare monthly/weekly production survey reports.
Ensure all survey work complies with statutory mining standards and safety regulations.
Coordination & Support
Work closely with geology, mine planning, and operations teams to support daily mining activities.
Provide survey control points and maintain benchmarks across the mine site.
Participate in safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
