We are partnering with a Local Council in the northern suburbs to find an experienced Payroll Officer for a 9-month contract.
In this role, you will look after the full end-to-end payroll process for around 500 staff on a fortnightly pay run. You will sit within a friendly Corporate Services Finance team and make sure all employees are paid accurately and on time.
Run Payroll: Handle the full end-to-end fortnightly payroll for about 500 staff.
Data Entry: Enter timesheets, update employee details, and check numbers for accuracy.
Calculations: Work out leave accruals, tax, superannuation, and termination or redundancy payouts.
Help Staff: Answer payroll questions from employees and help them understand their award or agreement rates.
Reporting: Create simple fortnightly payroll reports and help with end-of-financial-year tasks.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, takes initiative, and has:
Experience: 3-5+ years of payroll experience.
System Skills: Good experience with payroll software. If you know Technology One, that is a bonus, but training will be provided.
Great Habits: High attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Tech Savvy: Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfortable using Word and Outlook.
Must be willing to undergo a National Criminal History Check.
