This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute directly to safeguarding South Australia's horticulture industries and ensuring market access compliance.
As a Plant Health Inspector, you will play a vital role in enforcing the Plant Health Act 2009 and implementing biosecurity measures. Your primary focus will be on ensuring compliance with plant quarantine requirements and supporting our efforts to contain and manage plant pests and diseases.
Working closely with a range of stakeholders from primary producers to transport companies, you'll be instrumental in protecting our horticultural sector.
Conducting Inspections & Audits: Plan, coordinate, and execute audits and direct inspections of produce to ensure compliance with plant health regulations and certification standards.
Regulatory Enforcement: Interpret and enforce the Plant Health Act 2009, identifying non-compliant movements, activities, and materials, and implementing appropriate actions including segregation and quarantine.
Stakeholder Engagement: Provide accurate and timely information and advice to primary producers, market agents, growers, wholesalers, and other industry stakeholders to facilitate understanding and compliance with market access and quarantine requirements.
Program Support: Contribute to the effective performance of plant health programs and projects, aligning with Agency, State, and National Plant Health Objectives.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
A current South Australian driver's licence and willingness to drive.
Ability to undertake out of hours work and inter/intrastate travel as required.
Willingness to complete an ICA Auditors Course within 6 months of appointment if not already held.
Desirable:
Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Investigation & Enforcement) or equivalent (or willingness to undertake within 6 months of commencement and complete within 2 years).
Relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive equivalent experience associated with bio security.
