About your new role
The Principal Project Officer will play a pivotal leadership role in driving corporate governance, operational excellence, and strategic delivery across the organisation. In this position, you will oversee non-financial Standing Directions compliance, design and establish an internal control framework, and lead business continuity planning to ensure organisational resilience. Beyond compliance, you will manage end-to-end fleet governance and operations—including maintenance, policy, utilisation, and service arrangements. Serving as a key strategic advisor, you will also lead high-priority corporate projects, navigate complex issues, and drive impactful results enterprise-wide.
What you will need to exceed
... - Proven track record in managing non-financial Standing Directions, designing internal control frameworks, and leading business continuity planning.
- The ideal candidate must have advanced expertise in using MS Projects and possess exceptional scheduling skills.
- Demonstrated capability in leading high-priority, multi-faceted corporate projects and resolving complex, ambiguous issues across an enterprise
- Hands-on experience overseeing fleet governance, maintenance schedules, vehicle utilization, vendor service arrangements, and operational policies
- Solid familiarity with Victorian Public Sector (VPS) standards, governance frameworks, and administrative guidelines.
- Ability to provide high-level, clear advice to senior leaders and translate policy requirements into practical operational frameworks.
- Sharp ability to evaluate risk, identify gaps in controls, and continuous improvement opportunities
- Strong interpersonal skills to guide staff, negotiate with suppliers, and collaborate across departments
