Rate: $70 - $87 per hour (inclusive of superannuation)

About the Client & Role
On behalf of our client, a prominent Victorian transport organisation based in the Melbourne CBD, we are seeking an experienced Purchasing Administration Officer for a 3-month contract.
This is a hands-on, operational role providing critical compliance oversight, purchase order (PO) management, and supplier administration. Working within a major corporate environment, you will support transactional activities within finance and procurement systems to uphold strict compliance requirements during a busy period of strategic focus.
Key Responsibilities
PO Compliance & Vetting: Vet, verify, and process POs against valid contracts, quotes, certificates of insurance (COI), spend delegations, and procurement policies before approval.
Systems & Data Management: Perform high-volume transactional activities and maintain accurate records in ERP and procurement systems (Zycus and JDE).
Supplier & Stakeholder Support: Manage supplier onboarding and insurance verification. Provide day-to-day support, system guidance, and issue resolution to internal requisitioners and diverse business stakeholders.
Risk & Continuous Improvement: Identify, report, and escalate non-compliant transactions. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce recurring issues and strengthen controls.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
Proven Experience: Non-entry-level experience in compliance-driven procurement, finance, administration, or corporate services roles. Must be highly competent in managing PO workflows.
Technical Skills: Confident using Microsoft Office (with Intermediate Excel proficiency) and strong familiarity with ERP or procurement systems (Zycus and JDE are highly preferred).
Soft Skills: High attention to detail, exceptional communication/stakeholder engagement capability (explaining processes clearly), highly organized, proactive, and adaptable to change.
Desirable Criteria: Public sector procurement experience and knowledge of VGPB (Victorian Government Procurement Board) / Buying for Victoria guidelines.
