Position Details
- Duration: 6 months (with possibility for extension)
- Rate: $800 - $1000 (inclusive of super)
- Location: 990 Latrobe Street, Docklands (Hybrid)
About the Opportunity Our client is currently seeking a highly capable Senior Control Systems Engineer specializing in SCADA for an initial 6-month contract. In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert for the organization's SCADA system environment, managing both maintenance operations and external project service providers or system integrators.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate SCADA engineering activities across major, minor, and migration projects by providing high-level technical expertise and direction.
- Develop and participate in the commissioning of SCADA and Historian systems (including standard objects, schematics, and database points) to ensure effective monitoring and supervisory control of remote plants and processes.
- Provide technical support for various projects, which includes active involvement in design meetings and acceptance testing.
- Develop and review functional requirements documentation for any system modifications or upgrades.
- Execute necessary system modifications and enhancements for minor projects.
- Ensure strict governance of the SCADA environment while maintaining excellent data quality.
- Lead and participate in investigations of SCADA-related problems, providing critical support for incidents and control system performance issues.
Qualifications & Experience
- MUST HAVE: Active registration as a Registered Professional Engineer in Victoria (RPEV) / Professional Engineer (Electrical) within Victoria.
- A tertiary degree in a relevant engineering field.
- Significant, demonstrated experience working with Industrial Control Systems.
- Proven experience with one or more major SCADA systems (e.g., PCS7, Mosaic, CI-Server).
- Demonstrated background in the design, development, and/or maintenance of instrumentation systems.
- Strong knowledge of project planning, management, and the preparation of business cases.
Technical Capabilities & Skills
- Comprehensive, detailed knowledge of SCADA and PLC control systems, covering their development, coding, and testing phases.
- Knowledge and coding application experience with one or more of the following PLC systems: Siemens, Rockwell Control Logix/MicroLogix, or GeFanuc PLCs.
- Familiarity with key asset management processes and risk assessment techniques (such as CHAZOP) relating to control system assets.
- Practical experience utilizing corporate IT systems, including MS Office and Maximo.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills paired with excellent verbal communication capabilities.
- Excellent written communication skills, specifically for drafting and developing standards, procedures, and business cases.
- The proven ability to perform complex technical and professional work requiring only general supervision.
