- Lead and direct the work of a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants (TAs)/LSAs, delegating tasks effectively to maximize therapeutic support for pupil learning.
- Collaborate effectively with in-house and external therapists (e.g., Speech & Language, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy) to integrate therapeutic goals into the daily teaching and learning routine.
- Meticulously implement school policies relating to safeguarding, complex personal care (training provided), and inclusion, ensuring every child is supported and protected.
- Maintain accurate, professional records of pupil progress, sensory needs, and incidents for EHCP reviews and professional discussions.
Essential Profile
- Possession of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is mandatory.
- Proven experience teaching students with complex SEN (such as PMLD, SLD, or complex ASC) within a specialist or highly inclusive setting.
- A genuine understanding of and experience with structured, multi-sensory intervention techniques and a commitment to communication methods beyond verbal instruction (e.g., AAC, Makaton, PECS).
- Expertise in adapting curriculum content to make it accessible and relevant for non-verbal, minimally verbal, or high-dependency learners.
- High levels of patience, empathy, and resilience, coupled with a calm, consistent, and proactive approach to routines and complex needs.
