A fulfilling opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner school in Soham. We are seeking a versatile and empathetic individual to work alongside students with diverse needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and moderate learning difficulties. This role is perfect for someone who understands that progress comes in many forms and is committed to celebrating every achievement with their students.
Key Responsibilities
- Tailored Assistance: Provide high-quality 1:1 and group support to help students navigate their daily lessons and social interactions.
- Inclusive Environment: Assist the teacher in creating a sensory-friendly classroom and adapting learning materials to suit different learning styles.
- Progress Tracking: Help monitor student growth by recording observations and feedback in line with their EHCP objectives.
- Emotional Support: Foster student well-being by applying positive reinforcement and supporting their social and emotional development.
- Collaborative Working: Partner with the wider school team-including teachers and therapists-to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to student care.
- Life Skills: Encourage students to develop greater independence and confidence in their daily routines.
Requirements
- Practical experience (or a strong desire to learn) in a setting that supports individuals with additional needs.
- A resilient and adaptable nature, with the ability to remain calm and patient in a specialist environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build meaningful rapport with students and staff.
- A basic understanding of the challenges faced by learners with SEN and a commitment to inclusive education.
- A proactive, "can-do" attitude and a willingness to contribute to all aspects of school life.
- An enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or the willingness to apply for one).
