We are looking for a highly skilled SEND Instructor to lead a classroom in a specialist setting in Chelmsford. This role is ideal for an Unqualified Teacher or a highly experienced LSA ready to take the next step in their career, offering a premium daily rate of £170.
As a SEND Instructor, you will take the lead in delivering high-quality education to small groups of pupils with complex needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and SEMH challenges. You will act as the primary point of contact for your class, coordinating support staff and ensuring every child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) is met.
... - Classroom Leadership: Plan and deliver engaging, highly differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning styles.
- Specialist Instruction: Utilise specialist techniques (e.g., PECS, Makaton, or Sensory Play) to facilitate communication and learning.
- Staff Supervision: Manage and direct a team of Learning Support Assistants within the classroom.
- Assessment: Monitor student progress, contribute to EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) reviews, and adapt strategies based on data.
Requirements
- Experience: Proven experience leading a classroom or providing high-level support within a SEND environment.
- Expertise: Deep understanding of various special educational needs and effective behavioural management strategies.
- Attitude: A resilient, solution-focused approach and a genuine commitment to student advocacy.
- Qualifications: While QTS is not mandatory for an "Instructor" role, relevant qualifications (HLTA status, degree in Education/Psychology, or specialist SEND certifications) are highly advantageous.
- Compliance: An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
