Senior Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer – Slope Risk

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Geologist or Geotechnical Engineer specialising in Slope Risk Assessment to step into a key contract position supporting critical transport infrastructure across Queensland.
Joining a collaborative, high-performing environment, you will work closely with a core team of three senior engineers and the broader geotechnical group. This role covers a balanced portfolio of planned routine inspections and reactive emergency responses to ensure the safety and structural integrity of Queensland’s transport corridors.

Key Responsibilities
- Slope Risk & Geotechnical Assessments: Conduct comprehensive field inspections, technical risk evaluations, and slope stability analysis for both routine maintenance packages and urgent, reactive events.
- Autonomous Fieldwork: Independently plan and execute site inspections across various regional sites in Queensland (travel required up to 1 week at a time).
- Technical Reporting & Advisory: Deliver clear, detailed hazard reports, slope remediation strategies, and risk assessments to safeguard public infrastructure.
- Team Collaboration: Work seamlessly alongside direct senior engineering peers and multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
Key Requirements & Experience
- Mandatory Qualification: Current TMR (Department of Transport and Main Roads) Slope Risk Assessor Accreditation is strictly required.
- Technical Expertise: Demonstrated mid-to-senior experience in geology, geotechnical engineering, or engineering geology, with a strong emphasis on rockfall, landslip, and slope hazard evaluation.
- Self-Motivation & Autonomy: Proven ability to operate independently in the field, handle varying workloads, and manage time effectively during remote site visits.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Mobility: Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally across Queensland for periods of up to one week.
