About the Role
Our client is a WA State government organisation based in the Perth CBD. They are currently seeking a Senior Privacy & Information Sharing Specialist to come in and join their team on a temp contract opportunity until 2nd December 2026 with possible extension.
Requirements for this role include:
- Demonstrated experience in legislative interpretation, regulatory compliance and/or legal matters will be considered highly relevant and transferable experience for this position.
- Success in this position requires highly developed organisational, prioritisation and coordination skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple competing priorities in a complex and dynamic environment.
- Experience working with privacy legislation is highly desirable. Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills are essential.
Key responsibilities include:
- PRIS Act Compliance: Coordinate and support departmental obligations under the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 to ensure full regulatory adherence.
- Enquiry & Advisory Services: Manage the dedicated PRIS mailbox to deliver timely guidance and advice to staff regarding privacy and information-sharing protocols.
- Awareness & Capability Building: Develop and execute training programs, presentations, and communication materials to foster a culture of privacy compliance across the organization.
- Data Breach Management: Lead the implementation, execution, and ongoing oversight of the department’s personal information breach response process.
- Information Sharing & Legal Oversight: Maintain the central information sharing agreement register, identifying legal risks and escalating matters for formal advice when required.
- Regulatory & Oversight Liaison: Coordinate responses to inquiries, reviews, and formal investigations from external oversight bodies, including the Information Commissioner and Chief Data Officer.
- Strategic Privacy Governance: Initiate and drive the department's Privacy Management Plan to elevate privacy maturity, risk management, and overall governance frameworks.
