The RoleThis is a highly autonomous and technically rewarding role where you will be deeply involved in both the structural design and the drafting/documentation phases. You will be managing multiple projects, ensuring deadlines are met, and delivering high-quality designs in accordance with Australian Standards and NCC requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Engineering: Deliver comprehensive structural and civil designs for residential and commercial developments, covering reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber, and masonry.
- Drafting & Documentation: Produce, adequately document, and publish high-quality structural and civil engineering design drawings. (Note: This role is heavily focused on both design and structural drafting).
- Basements & Slabs: Expertly design and document residential and commercial basements, as well as suspended reinforced concrete slabs (one and two-way).
- Civil Drainage: Develop civil engineering drainage designs, including stormwater and on-site detention (OSD) systems, to Council requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Actively liaise with clients, councils, and external consultants to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Site Inspections: Attend and conduct site inspections as required to ensure practical application of designs.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will be a practical, detail-oriented engineer with a strong foundation in local Australian building practices.
Key Selection Criteria:
- Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of local experience as a Structural Design Engineer, specifically within the residential sector. (Experience with commercial and concrete structures is highly advantageous).
- Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering. (Additional civil engineering experience is a strong bonus).
- Drafting Proficiency: You MUST possess strong proficiency in AutoCAD structural drafting. The ability to prepare clear, highly organized documentation is a non-negotiable requirement for our client.
- Technical Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of Australian Standards for concrete, steel, and timber design.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Inducta SLB, Wallap, Tekla Tedds, and Structural Toolkit. (Familiarity with SpaceGass, OSD4W, SLOG, Clear Calcs, RAPT, or ETABS will be highly regarded).
- Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage relationships with clients, council, and internal team members..
