Requirements
- Degree/diploma in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent is essential
- Minimum 2 years post registration experience in similar role
- Current professional membership required
- Postgraduate training and /or experience in relevant courses
- Candidates must be Dysphagia trained
- Candidates will be subject to enhanced vetting including an enhanced Access NI check and compliance due to the nature of this work
- Up to date Immunisation records to complete a full occupational health review
- Ability to build rapport with ease
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective time management and prioritisation skills
- Ability to work in fast paced user-centric environment
Responsibilities
- Prioritise, assess and manage own patient caseload
- Provide a high level of expertise in the promotion and development of patient's speech, language and communication skills
- Make onward referrals to other professionals as required
- Assist in the planning, design and implementation of innovative and evidenced based ways of working with service users/carers
- Assist in the planning, design and evaluation of training and therapy programmes, ensuring regular updating to reflect current clinical practice
- Prepare/present appropriate specialist professional reports
- Communicate effectively with patients and ensure there is solid understanding of their condition and ongoing treatment plan
- Promote and support effective team working, fostering a culture of openness and transparency
- Support the service's leadership team as required
- Maintain a high level of safety to ensure all service users are kept safe
