Teaching Assistants Wanted in Wirral!
We are looking for capable and confident Teaching Assistants to support secondary schools across the Wirral (from Birkenhead and Wallasey to Bebington and West Kirby). We need people who understand the secondary environment and can help keep students aged 11-16 focused and on track. If you have experience in school support, youth work, or coaching, we have roles for you.
Full-Time, Part-Time, Long Term or Flexible Daily Supply available.
What we need from you:
- Proven experience working with teenagers in a structured environment.
- An up-to-date Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Strong communication skills to build rapport with both staff and students.
Key Duties:
- Work 1-to-1 with students who are struggling to stay focused on the task.
- Lead small "break-out" groups to help students with specific literacy or maths goals.
- Manage classroom behaviour by being a firm but fair presence alongside the teacher.
- Ensure students remain on task and actually complete their set classwork.
- Help the teacher prepare resources like worksheets or equipment before the bell rings.
- Supervise students during lesson transitions and break times to keep the school calm.
- Act as a positive mentor, helping teenagers build the confidence they need for exams.
- Follow all safeguarding procedures strictly to ensure every student is protected.
- Assist with exam access by acting as a reader or scribe for students during tests.
- Provide a quick handover note for the teacher about who worked well and who didn't.
