Randstad is partnering with a prominent Federal Government client dedicated to delivering high-quality housing solutions and property-related services to Australian Defence Force personnel and their families nationwide. Our client manages an expanding portfolio of properties and is committed to supporting Defence operational needs through excellence in property and asset management.
In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert, providing crucial technical knowledge and residential construction expertise to Project Managers and Regional Office staff on construction, upgrade, defect management, and heritage projects.
Contractor & Quality Management: Manage, coordinate, and report on works completed by contractors. Ensure accuracy against scopes, quality assurance, and timely property rectifications in line with corporate WHS requirements.
Defect Rectification: Review, assign, and manage contractual defect maintenance requests. Monitor builder performance and resolve defect issues in compliance with relevant legislation.
Technical Advisory: Provide specialist technical advice regarding complex building maintenance issues to various regional and national stakeholders.
Inspections & Reporting: Conduct site inspections to identify and quantify risks, defects, and issues. Review and respond to professional building and pest inspection reports.
Procurement & Scoping: Draft scopes of work for minor works, construction, upgrades, and heritage projects. Manage associated tender and procurement processes in accordance with policies and guidelines.
Contract Administration: Monitor project progress, manage hold points, process progress claims for payment, draft basic floor plans, and accurately update asset management systems.
To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong carpentry or building background combined with a sharp eye for asset management detail.
Minimum of 5 years experience within a residential construction environment combined with trade or tertiary background
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with regional staff, Defence representatives, and construction industry contractors.
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and experience utilising database and workflow management systems.
White Card (General Construction Induction)
Ability to pass a pre-employment National Criminal History Check
Must hold a current Baseline Security Clearance
