TechniFood Production Company in Ostend is looking for a Maintenance Technician.

As a Technician, you will have a diverse range of tasks:

You are responsible for the maintenance, total technical follow-up, and optimization of the machine park.
You quickly and effectively resolve technical malfunctions (mechanics, electricity, pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLC).
You perform preventive maintenance to avoid production downtime, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting components.
You replace or repair defective mechanical parts such as gearboxes and bearings.
You carry out repairs on various installations, including heating, steam, and cooling systems, and industrial ovens.
You actively seek opportunities for technical improvements and contribute to large-scale technical investment projects.
You accurately maintain technical documentation within the system.

What we offer you:

A starting wage between €17 and €22, depending on your experience.
An attractive shift premium on top of your hourly wage.
Meal vouchers of €8 per day worked.
Internal and external training opportunities to further develop your skills.

No collective closure (flexible holiday planning).

You will work in 2 shifts from Monday to Friday:

Early shift: 04:30 – 13:00 (Friday until 11:00)

key responsibilities
Core Technical Responsibilities
- Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Executing scheduled inspections and maintenance cycles to maximize machine uptime.
- Performing essential upkeep: cleaning, lubricating, and precision-adjusting components.
- Monitoring equipment wear and tear to replace parts before they fail.
- Corrective Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Rapidly diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults on active production lines.
- Troubleshooting automated systems involving Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and PLC logic.
- Minimizing production downtime through efficient emergency interventions.
- Mechanical Overhauls
- Dismantling, repairing, and reassembling complex mechanical assemblies.
- Replacing high-wear parts such as bearings, gearboxes, drive belts, and chains.
- Ensuring precise alignment and calibration of moving parts to prevent premature failure.
- Utilities & Infrastructure Support
- Maintaining facility-wide technical installations including industrial ovens, steam boilers, and cooling/refrigeration systems.
- Monitoring energy efficiency and safety parameters of high-pressure and thermal equipment.
Process & Project Responsibilities
- Technical Optimization
- Identifying "bottlenecks" in the production process and proposing technical upgrades.
- Modifying existing machinery to improve output, safety, or energy consumption.
- Participating in the installation and commissioning of new production lines and investment projects.
- Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Adhering strictly to HACCP (food safety) and LOTO (Lock-Out Tag-Out) safety protocols.
- Ensuring all repairs meet the hygiene standards required for a food production environment.
- Maintaining organized workspaces and following "5S" or "Lean" manufacturing principles.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Accurately logging all interventions, parts used, and technical findings into the Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Updating technical drawings and manuals after modifications are made.
qualifications
Job Qualifications:
- You have successfully completed a technical education (e.g., Electrotechnics, Electromechanics, or Technology).
- You are a generalist with very good knowledge of electricity and mechanics, supplemented by knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and PLC.
- You are passionate about technology, hands-on, and have a problem-solving mindset.
- You can work independently and remain stress-resistant within a production environment.
- You have a keen eye for order, cleanliness, safety, and hygiene (HACCP).
- A certificate for a forklift and/or aerial work platform (cherry picker) is a plus.
