We are currently seeking a dedicated Transformer Assembly Operator to join a dynamic production team in the Waterloo area. In this role, you will be a vital part of the manufacturing process, ensuring that high-quality electrical components are built to exact specifications. Whether you are an experienced assembler or looking to grow your skills in a specialized field, this position offers a stable environment and the opportunity to work with a world-class team.
As a Transformer Assembly Operator, you will be responsible for the end-to-end assembly of industrial transformers within our manufacturing and logistics division. Aligning with the O*NET occupation of Electrical and Electronic Equipment Assemblers (51-2022.00), this role requires a blend of manual dexterity, technical reading skills, and quality-focused execution. You will work from detailed job packages to ensure every component—from insulating barriers to final connections—meets rigorous industry standards.
In the manufacturing and logistics environment, precision is key. You will be tasked with setting up your workstation, verifying revision levels on engineering documents, and maintaining meticulous material traceability for sensitive chemical sealants. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work and takes pride in producing high-quality electrical apparatus.
Advantages
• Competitive pay rate starting a $19.25 per hour depending on experience. • Consistent day shift schedule (e.g., 7:00 am – 3:30 pm) promoting work-life balance. • Opportunity for 4% vacation pay added to each weekly cheque. • Ongoing training in WHMIS, Health & Safety, and specialized manufacturing processes. • Access to temporary and permanent roles with top employers in the Waterloo region. • Supportive team environment focused on professional growth and safety. • Working with a globally recognized partner for talent who cares about your well-being.
Responsibilities
• Build transformers according to Manufacturing Documents, including specifications, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOM). • Verify that the revision levels on the job package match the current production requirements. • Set up workstations and prepare necessary tools and materials before starting the assembly process. • Record material traceability and monitor shelf-life for sensitive materials like glue, tape, epoxy, and solvents. • Install insulating barriers (Nomex, tape, copper) and fit brackets or mounting hardware such as washers and screws. • Perform encapsulation of parts using epoxy or other specialized chemical sealants. • Make electrical connections using precision soldering, brazing, or crimping techniques. • Verify the gauge of steel used in assembly to ensure structural integrity. • Conduct quality control inspections to detect, prevent, and repair defective parts. • Use a variety of hand and air tools, including hammers, drills, calipers, and crimpers. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with health and safety protocols.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; however, basic English and math skills are essential. • Previous experience in transformer assembly or electrical component assembly is a strong asset. • Physical ability to stand or sit for an entire shift and perform repetitive twisting or pinching motions. • Ability to lift up to 25-50 lbs (spools of magnet wire or finished parts). • Must provide and wear CSA Approved Footwear at all times on the shop floor. • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions (e.g., hot and humid summer months). • Proven track record of reliability and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
