About the Role
As the Workforce Planning Lead, you will serve as the principal subject matter expert in workforce planning across the organisation. Reporting to the Strategic Workforce Planning Manager, you will take ownership of leading, coordinating, and executing our overarching workforce planning strategy.
In this high-impact, standalone specialist role, you will interface directly with senior leaders, the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and the Board. You will turn complex demographic and sector data into compelling strategic insights, driving interventions that ensure the organisation has the capability and talent needed for the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of workforce planning strategies, models, and forecasting tools to predict short- and long-term supply and demand.
- Executive Advisory: Present data-backed recommendations and authoritative advice to the ELT, Board, and senior executives on workforce demographics and capability risk mitigation.
- Integrated Talent Strategy: Align workforce planning directly with recruitment, attraction, retention, talent management, and learning & development (L&D) frameworks for critical roles.
- Data & Gap Analysis: Facilitate the collection and analysis of complex workforce data, conducting thorough gap analyses to address capability risks and optimize resourcing.
- Benchmarking & Innovation: Research contemporary industry trends, best practices, and market tools to drive continuous improvement in resourcing models.
About You (Key Selection Criteria)
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Commerce, Science, Mathematics, or a related field. Professional membership with AHRI or an equivalent workforce planning body is desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in strategic workforce planning or a related discipline, with a proven track record of delivering strategic advice to executive and board-level stakeholders.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Mastery: Demonstrated ability to translate complex, raw workforce data into clear, rational, and actionable strategic insights.
- Consulting & Influence: Outstanding interpersonal and consulting skills, with the credibility to influence decision-makers across a complex public sector environment.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to examine policy, anticipate market trends/threats, and formulate long-term resourcing strategies aligned with broader organizational goals.
