Responsibilities
Core Accounting: Execute full-cycle accounting activities including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance for multiple entities.
Development Support: Monitor and reconcile development project budgets, highlighting variances and preparing monthly cost-recovery reports.
Financial Reporting: Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including detailed variance and ratio analysis for the Board and funders.
Audit & Compliance: Act as the primary contact for external auditors, preparing year-end audit packages and filing all regulatory returns (HST/GST, payroll taxes).
Budgeting: Collaborate with department leads to prepare annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, incorporating capital and operating expenditure projections.
Process Improvement: Identify and lead internal initiatives to enhance reporting, controls, and system integration within Yardi.
Collaboration: Provide value-added financial support to property management and site staff to ensure operational alignment.
Qualifications
Education: University Degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting or accounting analysis, specifically in Real Estate, Construction, or Not-for-Profit environments.
Technical Skills: Must possess advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; hands-on experience with Yardi software is a significant asset.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and relevant legislation (RTA, AODA, etc.).
Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners; must be able to travel within the Greater Toronto Area as required.
