Are you an experienced Social Worker looking to take the next step in your career? Gateshead Council is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Advanced Practitioner to join their Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team.
This is a pivotal role designed for a practitioner who leads by example, combining complex frontline practice with the mentoring and development of colleagues.
The Role
As an Advanced Practitioner, you will be a champion for best practices within the CWD service. Your responsibilities will include:
Complex Casework: Managing a reduced but high-complexity caseload involving children with profound disabilities and complex family needs.
Mentorship: Providing expert clinical guidance and support to less experienced Social Workers and students within the team.
Quality Assurance: Assisting the Team Manager in ensuring high standards of assessment, planning, and intervention across the service.
Multi-Agency Leadership: Leading on complex safeguarding cases and representing the authority in high-level multi-agency forums.
Statutory Compliance: Ensuring all work meets the requirements of the Children Act and relevant SEND legislation.
Requirements
Registration: Current registration with Social Work England (SWE).
Experience: Substantial post-qualifying experience within Children's Services, specifically with children with disabilities and complex health needs.
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to support and mentor peers, with strong decision-making capabilities.
Knowledge: Deep understanding of safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act, and the SEND Code of Practice.
