Role Purpose
To lead and manage Industrial Relations and Employee Relations functions at the plant level,
ensuring harmonious labour relations, statutory compliance, union engagement, and proactive

Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic advisory to Plant Head on labour sensitivity matters.
Develop and implement IR strategies aligned with plant productivity and business goals.
Manage relationships with trade unions and workmen representatives and conduct periodic
meetings with them.
Lead long-term wage settlements, charter of demands negotiations, and collective bargaining
processes for at least 2 cycles.
Ensure peaceful handling of disputes, grievances, strikes, lockouts, and disciplinary matters.
Represent the organization before labour authorities, conciliation officers, and industrial
tribunals.
Support management during inspections and audits.
Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws including.
Oversee domestic enquiries and disciplinary proceedings as per certified standing orders.
Ensure statutory registers, returns, notices and records are maintained and updated.
Drive employee engagement initiatives for workmen and staff categories.
Implement grievance redressal mechanisms and disciplinary frameworks.
Counsel supervisors and line managers on handling misconduct, absenteeism, and behavioural
issues.
Promote positive work culture and grievance-free environment.
Draft and update HR policies related to discipline, conduct, and workplace behaviour.
Ensure implementation of certified Standing Orders.
Educate the line managers on policy interpretation and application.
Drive digitization and documentation of IR processes.
Identify potential IR risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Conduct root cause analysis of disputes and implement preventive measures.
Oversee plant security operations including entry/exit controls, visitor management, material
gate control, and asset protection.
Manage and supervise contract security agencies and guards.
Develop and implement plant security protocols and SOPs.
Conduct periodic security audits and vulnerability assessments.
Investigate incidents related to theft, pilferage, sabotage, misconduct, or breach of security.
Coordinate with local law enforcement authorities when required.
Ensure proper gate pass system for material movement (inward/outward).
Implement and monitor surveillance systems (CCTV monitoring, access control systems).
Ensure compliance under safety and environmental requirements
Drive implementation of safety policies, SOPs and safe work practices.
Chair or oversee Safety Committee meetings. Ensure periodic safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification (HIRA).
Lead accident investigations and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
Ensure compliance related to hazardous waste management, emissions, effluents, and
sustainability practices.
Promote a strong safety culture across workmen and staff.
Monitor PPE compliance and contractor safety adherence.
Conduct safety training and awareness programs.
Qualification & Experience:
Master’s Degree in HR / Industrial Relations / Labour Welfare / MSW (HR).
Legal qualification will be preferred.
15–20 years of experience in IR/ER in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum 5 years in a leadership role handling unionized workforce.
Strong exposure to collective bargaining and conciliation proceedings.
