TheAssistant Manager – Electrical, Instrumentation and Control will provide customer-focused leadership to the EI&C team, ensuring plant designs are efficient, fit-for-purpose and cost- competitive. They will provide whole of project view on EI&C inputs, linking process, instrumentation and control engineers and partner effectively with key stakeholders including Proposals, Projects and Operations in addition to vendors, contractors, external engineering teams and clients. The Assistant Manager – E&IC will ensure the detailed plant engineering designs are efficient, fit for purpose and cost competitive in addition, support the Sales/ proposals, Projects and provide effective electrical and instrumentation & control (E&IC) related expertise in design engineering cycle, advice and support throughout all phases of projects. This position will ensure project design deliverables are achieved on time and according to agreed Project budgets, specifications, and schedules. Essential Desirable Training / Qualifications Degree qualified in Instrumentation engineering/ Electrical and Electronics Engineering Basic knowledge of electrical engineering Managerial skills Good communication - written and oral Experience / Knowledge Minimum 18 years’ experience in instrumentation and PLC control Essential Desirable system preferably in the water industry, but heavy industry/O&G, mining also favourable Demonstrated project management and supervisory skills, particularly in respect of sub-contractors Strong knowledge of Instrumentation standards and installation compliance requirements including industry standards, regulations and codes within the water industry Knowledge of electrical & I&C equipment, components, materials and suppliers Good knowledge / understanding of Single line diagrams,, MCC control schematics, Electrical load list, motors, VFDs, power cable sizing, cable tray layouts, earthing etc Working knowledge of P&IDs Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects Control system design, Instrumentation systems design, Understanding of technical standards for systems and components including, but not limited to: IEC NEMA IS ISA Australian Standards Knowledge of MCC, PLC panels, PLC hardware and components, communication protocols, various instruments, transmitters and water analysers, Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and willingness to work with team members from culturally diverse backgrounds Ability to have clear verbal discussion over telephone and other communication media Analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent Customer orientation and ability to meet customer demands. Organisation skills. Ability to work under pressure. Adaptability and flexibility. Computer literacy. Working knowledge of ISO Quality Management Systems Willingness to travel on occasional and ad-hoc basis. Understanding economic principles such as balance between CAPEX and OPEX to achieve an optimized design that meets the customer’s needs and business strategies. Understanding of how commercial and contractual matters impact technical designs (including warranty and operations liabilities).
