This is a countywide brief that offers the opportunity to shape practice and ensure the child's voice is heard at every level.
Key Responsibilities:
Chairing: Lead Child Protection Conferences and Cared For (Looked After) Reviews with a child-centered, outcome-focused approach.
Quality Assurance: Scrutinize care planning from entry into care through to permanence, providing robust challenge to partner agencies where necessary.
Safeguarding Advice: Provide expert guidance to staff and external bodies, including the police, regarding complex safeguarding allegations.
Signs of Safety: Utilize the Signs of Safety model to develop strengths-based plans for vulnerable children and their families.
About You
We are looking for a dedicated and resilient professional with authoritative confidence in decision-making.
Qualifications: Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) and current registration with Social Work England.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years' post-qualifying experience in children's services, including substantial experience in child protection and the cared-for system.
Skills: Exceptional chairing, negotiation, and analytical report-writing skills.
Mobility: Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle for travel across rural and urban Northumberland.
