In this pivotal weekday role, you will lead, design, and deliver contemporary, evidence-based nursing education across a range of care settings. From coordinating undergraduate student placements to supporting graduate nurses and experienced staff, you will play a central role in fostering a culture of continuous learning, safe practice, and high-quality, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Development & Delivery: Identify learning needs and develop, deliver, and evaluate innovative clinical education programs, mandatory training, and practical workshops.
- Student & Graduate Coordination: Manage student nurse placements, coordinate recruitment and support for Graduate Nurse and Transition EN programs, and liaise with university partners.
- Mentorship & Preceptorship: Act as a clinical teacher and mentor for new staff, agency personnel, and students; assign and follow up with workplace preceptors.
- Orientation & Onboarding: Oversee and deliver comprehensive orientation programs for all incoming nursing staff and students.
- Quality & Clinical Practice: Conduct clinical audits, analyse performance data, contribute to policy development, and lead quality improvement initiatives aligned with accreditation standards.
- Clinical Adaptability: While primarily an education role, you may occasionally step into direct clinical practice when operational needs require.
What We Are Looking For
Essential Criteria
- Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse (or Midwife) with AHPRA.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training & Assessment (or a commitment to complete within 12 months).
- Demonstrated experience in nursing education, clinical teaching, or acting as a preceptor.
- Strong clinical skills with a deep understanding of evidence-based nursing practice, infection control, and OH&S.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage learners using varied teaching modalities.
- High-level organizational skills, time management, and proficiency with digital record systems and educational software.
- Broad understanding of rural health issues and nursing standards (ANMC Code of Conduct & Ethics).
Desirable Criteria
- Postgraduate qualifications in Nursing or Education.
- Accredited Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) Trainer & Assessor.
- Prior experience in a dedicated Clinical Educator role.

- Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Valid Victorian Driver’s Licence (preferred).
- Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination and agreement to participate in the annual Influenza Vaccination Program.
- Completion of a Health Declaration prior to commencement.
