Position Summary
The Commercial Manager, Chemicals is a strategic leadership role responsible for driving execution across a diverse Chemicals portfolio, including self-manufactured and private-label products.
In this role, you will provide overall leadership while maintaining direct responsibility for product management, sales leadership, and winning key customer opportunities. Leading a team of Product Specialists, you will work cross-functionally with marketing, operations, supply chain, and regional commercial teams to expand market presence and deliver against financial targets.
Field Presence: This role requires approximately 30% travel to engage directly with the market and key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Direction: Set and execute the portfolio strategy for all key market segments.
Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing team of Product Specialists.
Commercial Excellence: Integrate portfolio strategy with sales initiatives to drive market share gain.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with strategic partners, channel teams, and operations to ensure seamless delivery and growth.
Customer Engagement: Actively participate in developing and securing major customer contracts and opportunities.
Requirements
Education: Tertiary qualifications in Science (Chemistry or a related discipline). Formal business qualifications are highly preferred.
Experience: 3+ years of proven success in portfolio leadership, product management, or sales team management Ideally in Chemicals / Chemical manufacturing or distribution of chemicals or Laboratories or industrial
Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of laboratory, research, bio-pharma, or industrial markets.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in CRM systems (Salesforce) and the MS Office suite.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to build successful teams and navigate a complex matrix organization.
Communication: Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
