Urgent Mandate: Compliance Officer – for Real Estate LeaderAs the manager of the Legal and Compliance recruitment team, I am handling an exclusive mandate for a well-established, comprehensive real estate firm.About Our ClientOur client is a highly respected firm with a strong foothold in the Japanese real estate market. They manage a diverse and high-value portfolio, including:Brokerage services for domestic and international clients.High-value residential and commercial development projects.Asset management and investment services.Properties in central Tokyo and prime domestic resort locations.The Opportunity: A "Blue Ocean" Compliance BuildThis is not a typical back-office maintenance role.Our client is strategically expanding by launching a new Brokerage Business. To do this, they must acquire a Type II Financial Instruments Business license.We are seeking an expert Compliance Officer to lead this entire process. You will be the central figure responsible for securing the license and then building the entire compliance and governance framework from the ground up.Your Core ResponsibilitiesAs the key compliance leader for this new business, you will have full ownership of:Licensing & Framework: Leading the successful acquisition of the Type II license and establishing all required internal regulations.Regulatory & Governance: Managing all reporting to authorities (Kanto Local Finance Bureau, Type II FIEA) and running corporate governance functions (Board meetings, minutes).Program Management: Designing, implementing, and managing the ongoing compliance program, including reporting progress directly to the Board.Operational Compliance: Handling all operational duties, including KYC (transaction monitoring), statutory documentation, advertisement screening, and contract reviews.Internal Advisory: Acting as the SME for all compliance matters, including data privacy and developing and delivering internal training.The Ideal Candidate ProfileThis role requires a specific blend of financial services and real estate expertise. The non-negotiable requirements are:3+ years of compliance experience within a Type II Financial Instruments Business.A valid Real Estate Notary (Takuchi Tatemono Torihikishi) license.This is the perfect mandate for a professional who understands the intersection of real estate law (Takken) and financial regulations (FIEA) and wants to build a best-in-class program.Conditions & Next StepsLocation: Minato-ku, TokyoWork Style: 9:30-18:30, full weekend/holiday leaveCompensation: Competitive salary with biannual bonuses (April, October)Benefits: Full social insurance and corporate DC pension planThis is a high-priority search.
