Position Overview
The Country Financial Controller is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the end-to-end financial management of the Malaysian entity. This role integrates the complexities of manufacturing finance, commercial business partnering, and export operations across the Southeast Asian (SEA) markets. As a strategic partner to the Regional Finance Director, you will drive financial discipline, optimize cost structures, and provide the insights necessary to scale our market presence and manufacturing efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manufacturing Finance & Operations
...Oversee the full spectrum of plant finance, including standard and actual product costing, BOM analysis, and manufacturing variance control.
Implement and manage rigorous internal controls over inventory valuation, raw material procurement, and factory overheads.
Identify and drive cost-saving initiatives on the production floor to improve the final bottom line.
2. Commercial Business Partnering & SEA Exports
Act as the lead financial advisor for commercial teams to drive revenue growth and margin protection across Malaysia and SEA export markets.
Evaluate the financial viability of export pricing strategies, distributor agreements, and regional promotional campaigns.
Manage the financial complexities of export operations, including trade compliance, duties, and regional logistics costs.
Develop sophisticated financial models for new product launches and cross-border business expansion.
3. Strategic FP&A & Cash Management
Orchestrate the annual budgeting process and monthly rolling forecasts (MTDP) for the country and export divisions.
Provide in-depth variance analysis and data-driven insights to the Regional Finance Director and local senior leadership.
Optimize net free cash flow through effective working capital management and AR collection transformation projects
Manage multi-currency FX hedging strategies to mitigate risks from regional export revenues.
4. Governance & Compliance
Ensure all financial statements comply with IFRS/MFRS and group accounting policies.
Manage statutory audits, corporate tax filings, and international transfer pricing (TP) documentation for cross-border transactions.
Lead the implementation of digital transformation and automation projects (e.g., e-Invoicing, SAP upgrades).
Ideal Candidate Requirements
Professional Qualifications: Degree in Accounting/Finance and a professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or MIA).
- Experience: Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive experience, with a heavy emphasis on FMCG or Manufacturing sectors.
Big 4 Foundation: Prior experience in a Big 4 Audit Firm is highly preferred to ensure strong technical and governance foundations.
Market Exposure: Demonstrated experience in managing SEA export operations and dealing with multi-currency jurisdictions.
Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in SAP or Oracle and expert-level financial modeling in Microsoft Excel.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead large, diverse teams and interact with regional C-suite stakeholders
