About the Role
Our client is a NSW government organisation based in the Sydney CBD. They are currently seeking a Financial Reporting and Business Advisor to come in and join their team on a temp contract opportunity until 11th September 2026 with possible extensions.
Candidates for this role must have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or similar OR CA/CPA qualification
- Previous experience in Financial Reporting and Advisory roles
- Proven knowledge of general financial accounting processes
- Previous government experience (Desirable)
Key responsibilities will include:
- Statutory & Financial Reporting: Provide timely advice, support, and preparation for the Department and cluster agencies' statutory and financial reporting requirements.
- Shared Services & Vendor Management: Partner with GovConnect NSW to review financial reconciliations, monitor service delivery requirements, and escalate or resolve transactional issues efficiently.
- Financial Systems & Banking Administration: Administer financial support systems—including online banking and cash forecasting—while providing coaching and process guidance to staff.
- General Accounting & Month-End Processing: Deliver day-to-day accounting services, manage end-of-month processing, and resolve complex transactional and account reconciliation issues to ensure audit and taxation compliance.
- Ledger & Account Management: Coordinate the management and payment of corporate accounts, and prepare accurate accrual and adjustment journals.
- Project & Operational Support: Provide broad financial services to support the daily operations of the Finance Unit and participate in special finance projects as required.
About You
You will be an experienced Financial reporting and advisory professional with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or similar OR CA/CPA qualification
- Previous experience in Financial Reporting and Advisory roles
- Proven knowledge of general financial accounting processes
- Previous government experience (Desirable)
