Stores & ; Inventory Management
- Own end-to-end shipyard stores operations including receipt, inspection, storage, preservation, identification, and issuance of materials.
- Ensure storage and preservation as per OEM recommendations, class requirements, and quality standards, including corrosion protection and preservation cycles.
- Establish and enforce SOPs across all yard stores and laydown areas.
Material Receipt, Inspection & ; Traceability
- Coordinate with inbound logistics and quality teams for timely GRN creation, inspection clearance, and material acceptance.
- Ensure proper tagging, batch control, heat number traceability, and availability of certificates for class and audit compliance.
- Identify and resolve quantity, quality, or documentation discrepancies through structured corrective actions.
Inventory Control & ; Accuracy
- Maintain accurate, real-time inventory records in ERP / SAP systems for all receipts, issues, transfers, and returns.
- Drive cycle counting, periodic physical stock verification, and reconciliation to minimise variances and pilferage.
- Monitor inventory ageing and consumption trends to proactively address obsolescence risks.
Issue Control & Production Support
- Ensure timely and controlled issue of materials against approved indents, work orders, and project schedules.
- Enforce issue discipline to prevent unauthorised withdrawals or misuse of materials.
- Proactively flag critical shortages, mismatches, or delays to avoid production impact.
Yard Layout, Storage Optimisation & ; Safety
- Plan and optimise yard storage layouts, laydown areas, and material flow for efficient handling and space utilisation.
- Ensure compliance with safety norms for lifting, stacking, load limits, hazardous materials, and fire protection.
- Drive housekeeping, safety audits, and corrective actions across stores and yard areas.
Obsolescence, Scrap & ; Surplus Management
- Identify and monitor slow-moving, surplus, damaged, or obsolete inventory.
- Initiate reuse, transfer, sale, or disposal actions in coordination with procurement and finance.
- Manage scrap segregation, valuation, and disposal as per policy and audit requirements.
Coordination with Procurement & ; Logistics
- Align with procurement and inbound logistics teams on delivery schedules, receipt planning, and storage readiness.
- Provide feedback on packaging quality, transit damages, and handling issues to prevent recurrence.
- Support planning for heavy, oversized, or critical material arrivals.
Compliance, Audit & ; Documentation
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, statutory regulations, class norms, and audit standards.
- Maintain complete documentation for GRNs, issue slips, inspection reports, stock registers, and system records.
- Support internal, external, and class audits with accurate data and corrective action tracking.
Team Leadership & ; Capability Building
- Lead and manage stores officers, supervisors, and warehouse staff.
- Define roles, KPIs, shift structures, and training requirements.
- Build a disciplined, safety-conscious, and system-driven stores organisation.
Reporting & ; Continuous Improvement
- Prepare MIS and dashboards on inventory levels, ageing, consumption, shortages, and variances.
- Analyse performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness
