Contract Type: Day-to-Day or Long-Term placements available

Are you passionate about youth mental health and SEN support?
We are seeking a resilient, empathetic, and dedicated Learning Mentor in Plymouth to support young people who face significant barriers to education. Many of our students experience high anxiety, sensory overload, and school refusal. Before they can focus on lessons, they need to feel safe, heard, and understood.
If you want a role where success is measured in breakthroughs rather than test scores, this is it.
Your Impact (Key Responsibilities):
Develop Coping Strategies: Work 1:1 with vulnerable students to identify their anxiety triggers and build personalised emotional toolkit.
Champion Student Wellbeing: Act as a trusted mentor, advocating for the mental health, confidence, and emotional growth of your students.
Partner with Families: Break down communication barriers by working closely with parents and carers to ensure a unified, supportive approach between home and school.
Community-Based Learning: Take education outside the classroom. You will support students on community trips to develop real-world life skills, boost social confidence, and re-engage with the world.
What You Need to Succeed:
Experience: Prior experience working with young people with SEN (such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or trauma/attachment needs) is highly valued.
Personality: Boundless patience, a thick skin, and a genuine passion for youth mentoring.
Adaptability: The ability to pivot a session completely if a student is having a challenging day.
Communication: Exceptional listening skills to connect with anxious teenagers and build strong relationships with protective families.
Why Choose This Role?
Ultimate Flexibility: Choose between day-to-day work to fit your schedule, or secure a stable, long-term placement.
Immediate Start: Skip the long hiring delays-we are looking for mentors to make a difference starting ASAP.
Dedicated Support: Benefit from a streamlined on boarding process with a supportive specialist consultant.
