Our client is one of the biggest bottlers in the world, and are looking for a permanent full-time continental shift Millwright to be responsible for the P.M., upkeep, and repair of the automated manufacturing and high-speed packaging equipment.
Job Type: Permanent position
Location: SE Calgary
Schedule: 5x8 Continental 2 week rotating shift:
Morning - 6:00am-2:30pm
Afternoon - 2:00pm - 10:30pm
Nights - 10:00pm - 6:30am
Environment: Unionized
Wage: Hourly $47.75 an hour to start + shift and duo ticket premium

Responsibilities
What the average day could include:
Automation & Control Systems:
- PLC Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and fault-finding on Programmable Logic Controllers (primarily Allen Bradley/Rockwell or Siemens) to resolve logic errors that halt production.
- VFD Programming: Configuring and replacing Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to control the speed of conveyor motors and liquid pumps.
- HMI Maintenance: Troubleshooting Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs)—the touchscreens operators use to control the lines—ensuring they communicate correctly with the PLCs.
- Sensor Calibration: Installing and calibrating photo-eyes, proximity switches, and level sensors that detect bottle presence and fill levels.
Electrical Maintenance & Repair:
- Power Distribution: Maintaining high-voltage panels, transformers, and switchgear (up to 480V/600V) to ensure stable power across the facility.
- Motor Repair: Testing and replacing three-phase AC/DC motors that drive fillers, palletizers, and blow molders.
- Circuit Troubleshooting: Using multimeters, oscilloscopes, and megohmmeters to trace wiring faults, blown fuses, or tripped breakers in complex control cabinets.
- Wiring & Conduit: Installing new electrical runs, EMT/Rigid conduit, and cable trays for equipment upgrades or new line installations.
Preventative Maintenance (PM) & Compliance:
- Electrical PMs: Performing scheduled inspections of control panels for loose connections, heat buildup (using thermography/infrared cameras), and dust accumulation.
- Food Safety (GMP): Ensuring all electrical enclosures are properly sealed and that work is performed under strict Good Manufacturing Practices to prevent product contamination.
- Safety Protocols: Strictly adhering to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and Arc Flash safety standards to protect yourself and the production crew.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
- Emergency Response: Acting as a "first responder" to unplanned downtime, working under pressure to get the bottling line back online.
- Cross-Trade Support: Collaborating with Millwrights on mechanical repairs that involve electrical components (e.g., motor-driven gearboxes).
Qualifications
What you bring:
- Alberta Journeyman Electrician certification (Red Seal if ticketed out of province)
- Maintenance experience in the manufacturing sector, preferably within clean room (food, beverage, packaging, pharma).
- Dual-Ticket (Electrician/Millwright) is a significant asset.
- Interest in supporting mechanical maintenance needs when necessary.
- Ability to work comfortably around alcohol production and adhere to strict hygiene standards (hair nets/beard nets).
- Must provide your own tools; specialized PPE will be provided.
