We are hiring Mechanical Static Draftman for Kolkata location.
Your Role as:
A Mechanical Static Draftsman is responsible for creating detailed technical drawings and 3D models of non-moving (static) equipment used primarily in the oil and gas, petrochemical, and power industries. This role bridges the gap between engineering design and actual fabrication.
## Core Responsibilities
The primary focus of this role is on the structural integrity and spatial accuracy of large-scale industrial components.
- Detailed Drafting: Develop 2D fabrication drawings, general arrangement (GA) drawings, and detailed section views for static equipment such as:
- Pressure Vessels and Heat Exchangers.
- Storage Tanks (API 650/620).
- Columns/Towers and Reactors.
- 3D Modeling: Build accurate 3D models of equipment to ensure there are no "clashes" with surrounding piping or structural steel.
- Bill of Materials (BOM): Generate comprehensive lists of materials, including steel grades, nozzle schedules, and hardware requirements.
- Standard Compliance: Ensure all drawings adhere to international codes such as ASME Section VIII (Pressure Vessels) and TEMA (Heat Exchangers).
- Revision Management: Incorporate feedback from Lead Engineers and clients, maintaining strict version control of technical documents.
## Technical Skills & Requirements
To be successful in this role, a draftsman must be proficient in specific software and industry standards.
Category
Requirements
Software Proficiency
AutoCAD (2D), Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or PV Elite.
Industry Knowledge
Familiarity with ASME, API, and ASTM standards.
Technical Drafting
Ability to create weld maps, nozzle orientations, and shell developments.
Education
Typically a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a specialized ITI Certification in Drafting.
## Typical Workflow
- Input Phase: Receives "Mechanical Data Sheets" from the design engineer containing pressures, temperatures, and dimensions.
- Drafting Phase: Creates the General Arrangement drawing for initial approval.
- Detailing Phase: Once the GA is approved, the draftsman develops "Shop Drawings" used by the workshop to cut and weld the steel.
- Quality Check: Verifies that all tolerances and weld symbols are correct before the final "Issued for Construction" (IFC) release.
## Key Deliverables
- Assembly Drawings: Showing how parts fit together.
- Detail Drawings: Zoomed-in views of specific components like manholes, saddles, or lifting lugs.
- Nozzle Orientation Drawings: Crucial for ensuring the vessel connects correctly to the plant's piping system.
