SAP Basis Operations Consultant
Are you an expert in SAP Basis looking to make a tangible impact on the security and resilience of large-scale legacy environments? Randstad Digital Switzerland is looking for a dedicated SAP IT Operations Consultant to join our team and support one of our key international clients in the Geneva area.
In this role, you will be the technical backbone ensuring that critical SAP landscapes remain stable, hardened, and high-performing. You will work at the intersection of IT operations and cybersecurity, turning security assessments into operational reality.
The role
As a consultant representing Randstad Digital, you will report to the Senior Manager of IT Operations and handle the technical execution of system improvements. Your responsibilities include:
System Hardening & Remediation: Implementing technical changes to parameters, RFC settings, Gateway/Message Server configurations, and interface restrictions to meet security baselines.
Security Tool Integration: Supporting the deployment and operational integration of SAP-focused security platforms like Onapsis, Security Bridge, RedShield, or Pathlock.
Cloud Operations: Managing SAP workloads within AWS, including instance management, networking updates, and backup/restore execution.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Monitoring system health (short dumps, work processes, performance bottlenecks) and maintaining application components such as background jobs and technical profiles.
Collaboration & Documentation: Working closely with cloud, database, and security teams to validate system behavior and maintain clear technical runbooks and standards.
Your background:
Core SAP Expertise: Proven experience with SAP Basis or technical operations, specifically with ECC 6.0, BW 7.5, HANA 1.0, Portal 7.5, PI 7.4, or MDM 7.1.
Technical Knowledge: A deep understanding of SAP architecture, RFCs, profiles, and background processing.
Infrastructure Skills: Solid working knowledge of Windows Server and SQL Server in an SAP context, as well as experience with AWS or other cloud environments.
Security Mindset: Familiarity with SAP hardening concepts and secure configuration practices.
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, a structured approach to troubleshooting, and excellent written and spoken English.
Nice to Have:
Direct experience deploying or operating SAP-focused security tools (e.g., Onapsis).
Exposure to automation via scripting or cloud tooling.
Knowledge of ITIL processes for change and incident management.
