Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to work within the specialised SEN department of a highly-regarded and inclusive secondary school in Rainham. This is a rewarding, long-term opportunity to support students with a variety of complex needs (including ASD, ADHD, and SEMH) on a full-time basis.
In this role, you will be more than just an assistant; you will be a mentor and a champion for students who face significant barriers to their learning. You will work within a close-knit and supportive SEN team that is passionate about ensuring every child, regardless of their starting point, has the opportunity to succeed and thrive in a mainstream secondary environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1:1 and Small Group Support: Providing tailored academic and emotional support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) both within the classroom and in specialised intervention hubs.
Collaborative Planning: Working closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and external professionals to implement and track Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Inclusion & Wellbeing: Fostering a supportive, inclusive, and positive learning environment where students feel safe to express themselves and take risks with their learning.
Progress Monitoring: Observing student behaviour and academic performance, maintaining detailed records, and providing regular feedback to the SEN department regarding student welfare and achievements.
Requirements:
Experience: Mandatory, recent experience working with children or young people, ideally within a school or youth-work setting.
Specialism: Ideally, you will have a deep interest or prior experience in working with SEN pupils (specifically ASD, ADHD, or SEMH). Experience with sensory circuits or speech and language interventions is a bonus.
Adaptability: The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt your approach to meet the changing needs of different students throughout the school day.
Compliance: Must have (or be willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS on the update service and be able to provide professional references covering the last two years.
Pay & Benefits:
Initial Daily Rate: £90 per day, paid weekly.
AWR Increase: Your daily rate will increase to £107 per day (equivalent to a permanent salary scale) after the 12-week qualifying period under the Agency Worker Regulations.
Referral Bonus: Receive £300 in Love2Shop vouchers for every friend or colleague you refer to us who goes on to work for Randstad (subject to terms and conditions).
