About your new role
The APS6 Project Officer will be responsible for planning, managing, and delivering workforce readiness projects in alignment with established project management frameworks and organisational objectives. Working under limited direction, the role involves coordinating project schedules, tracking budgets, overseeing quality assurance, and managing risks, issues, and dependencies to ensure milestones are met on time. A central component of the position is managing and analysing complex datasets to identify trends and risks, building reporting dashboards and products, and translating data into clear, actionable insights for senior executives and stakeholders. Additionally, the officer will lead stakeholder engagement, draft executive briefs, business cases, and corporate documentation, and develop resources and support materials to drive continuous operational improvement.
What you will need to exceed
... - Proven experience interrogating, validating, and analysing complex, multi-source quantitative and qualitative datasets.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, lookup functions, data validation) are essential. Familiarity with digital collaboration platforms (Teams, SharePoint) and business intelligence tools such as Power BI is highly beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience developing project plans, managing risk registers, monitoring budgets, and overseeing quality management within a formal project governance framework.
- A track record of writing high-quality business cases, executive briefs, corporate documentation, and status reports that convey complex details concisely to senior leadership.
- High-level critical thinking to identify root causes and practical solutions, alongside the interpersonal skills needed to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Prior experience working within a government agency, department, or public sector project environment—ideally with an understanding of disability, health, or human services sectors provides a strong foundation for immediate success.
