Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Sourcing
Develop and execute the annual sourcing strategy for pharmaceuticals, consumables, and implants, balancing cost, quality, and supply reliability across all client facilities.
Track market intelligence including pricing trends, new products, supplier landscape, and regulatory changes to support sourcing decisions.
Lead competitive tendering, rate contract negotiations, and vendor empanelment to secure optimal commercial terms.
Standardize products with clinical teams to reduce overlapping SKUs and improve procurement efficiency.
Inventory & Supply Management
Align procurement activities with consumption forecasts and inventory par levels in collaboration with Demand Planning & Analytics.
Monitor stock availability across hospitals, AMCs, and clinics, activating alternate vendors to prevent critical- care stock-outs.
Manage indents, purchase orders, and vendor dispatches to ensure timely replenishment.
Drive expiry management and product returns through FIFO discipline and vendor buy-back arrangements to minimize wastage.
Clinical Alignment & Formulary Management
Maintain and update the approved drug formulary in collaboration with clinical and pharmacy teams.
Review new product requests for clinical value, regulatory compliance, and cost-effectiveness before empanelment approval.
Ensure timely procurement support for new facility launches and specialty service additions.
Vendor Performance Management
Monitor vendor performance against agreed SLAs covering delivery timelines, fill rates, quality standards, and invoice accuracy.
Escalate persistent vendor performance issues to the Head - Vendor Management & Contracts for corrective action or replacement.
Provide vendor performance data and category-specific inputs to support central empanelment and contracting decisions.
Compliance & Regulatory Adherence
Ensure all procurement activities comply with drug licensing requirements, healthcare accreditation standards, and Client quality policies.
Maintain complete documentation for scheduled drugs, controlled substances, and high-value implants for audit purposes.
Coordinate with quality and clinical teams to manage recalls, quality alerts, and batch withdrawals.
Cost & Savings Management
Deliver annual cost-saving targets through competitive sourcing, rate negotiations, and demand consolidation.
Track and report category spend, savings, and budget performance to the Head - Procurement.
